New home shirt for Argentina national team was revealed by Adidas and Argentine Football Association(AFA) on March 21, 2016. The shirts will be put on by national team players to participate in Copa América Centenario and 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification in South Africa.
Argentina Home Jersey 2016 has a simple design with traditional sky blue and white stripes on the shirt, reflecting the great and long history of Argentine football. The collar and cuffs are dark, making a contrast with the main color. Besides, the unique badge of the AFA is printed on the right chest. Two five-pointed stars symbolize two titles in 1978 and 1986 World Cups.
Blue, as one of the main colors of the shirt, is associated with the sky and the ocean, not only showing players’ calmness, trustworthiness, and responsibility but also symbolizing the national flag.
Adidas three stripes are put on both sides of the body rather than shoulders this time.
Made by Adizero technology, the shirt is lighter and more comfortable than previous shirts. What’s more, following the tendency of football development, the back of the new shirt is used ultra-ventilated mesh fabric to help players in motion release heat fast. Therefore, players can get the best sportswear and perform rapidly and freely.
Argentina national team’s home stadium is Estadio Antonio Vespucio Liberti, also referred to El Monumental, which is named after Antonio Vespucio Liberti, the former president of River Plate. It is the largest stadium in Argentina with a capacity of 62,000. Besides, major sporting events were held here, such as 1996 CONMEBOL Libertadores and 1978 FIFA World Cup Argentina.
